LeadingAge Southeast invites you to join for this session that will discuss various steps and techniques an organization can employ to help improve all aspects of the annual audit process at a HUD funded property. The session will cover both the financial audit, and the HUD required compliance testing items for tenant files, Section 8 billing, and more.

Presenters:
Brian Carter, Partner, Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC Brian Carter, CPA, is a partner with Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC. Brian received his BBA in Accounting from Mercer University in 1996 and is licensed as a CPA in Georgia and Florida. Since joining Mauldin & Jenkins, Brian has specialized in providing a variety of accounting, auditing and tax services to not-for-profit organizations, affordable housing developers, restaurants, construction contractors and manufacturing and distribution entities. Brian also consults with not-for-profit board of directors on governance and policy issues and is a frequent speaker to various trade and civic organizations on topics affecting the not-for-profit industry. Brian is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Society of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class 38.

Ross Cannon, CPA, Partner, Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC Ross Cannon, CPA is a Partner in the Healthcare practice of Mauldin & Jenkins. Ross graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and a Masters of Accounting from Georgia Southern University in 2006. He began his career with Mauldin & Jenkins shortly after graduation. Since joining Mauldin & Jenkins, Ross specializes in providing attestation services for not-for-profit organizations, healthcare entities, affordable housing, higher education and middle market businesses. Ross also provides accounting, tax, and consulting services to individuals, corporations and partnerships. Ross is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA). He serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Institute on Aging and is a past member of the Leadership Council and the A&A Advisory Council for the GSCPA. Ross also has served on the committee for the GSCPA Healthcare Industry conference. He also serves as the area chairman for the Smyrna Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and the state treasurer for Georgia Ducks Unlimited. He is a graduate of Leadership Cobb Class of 2022.
